May Chadick
A Little History…
A native of New Orleans, May grew up riding American Saddlebreds and competed on the Southwest Circuit as a child, teenager & young adult. She made the decision to turn professional in her late teens & set out to apprentice/work under some of the breed’s top trainers & instructors (Don Bridges, Barbe Smith, Cash Lovell, Jr. & Pam Roush) under whom she helped develop numerous World Champion horses & riders. May opened her own training operation in Tampa, FL in the early 2000’s and developed many riders from beginner level to show horse owners & competitors before returning to Texas in 2005.
She worked with her husband, Steve Chadick, at SGF Winning Ways Farm, Ltd. for 5 years, co-managing the operation as well as training & instructing some of the top show horses & riders in the nation. Vantage Point Farm, LLC was opened by May & Steve in 2010. The couple produced many top competitors through 2014, specializing in developing riders from the very beginning stage. The two parted ways personally in 2014 & May stayed at the helm of the business. Since then, Vantage Point has continued to thrive and grow under May’s watchful eye. It remains a barn where top show riders & horses are developed including multiple Regional, National & World Champions. It is a place where family values and the horses’ care & quality of life are at the forefront of every decision.
Giving back….
May maintains a strong desire to promote the American Saddlebred Horse and to see the Texas ASB industry continue to grow & thrive. She’s hugely involved in Breed Promotion throughout the city of Houston, garnering Vantage Point Farm the title of World Champion Breed Ambassador in 2021 & 2023 along with the Res. Title in 2022. May served as the UPHA Ch. 6/7 Secretary for 6 years and was the Trainer’s Representative for TASHA previously for 4 terms. She has served on the ASHBA Charter Club Council for more than 8 years and remains on it and the Charter Club Council Steering Committee. A sought-after judge & someone who almost never says “no it can’t happen”; May is a person with a lifelong genuine love for the American Saddlebred Horse and it’s community.
